I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
Tacking/untacking client horses, cleaning stalls, administering supplements, riding client horses, teaching intermediate lessons, aiding lesson students, managing turnout schedule.
I worked at a barn in Washington State as an assistant/stable hand. I have been riding in the hunter/jumper world since I was three years old, and I have been competing since I was about 13. I was a working student in Gilbert, where I continued learning new methods of training.
I have worked with young horses, I recently bought my filly as a yearling, she’s now almost three, and I have primarily done all her training myself. I own an OTTB, which I rehabbed myself when I was 14-15 years old, I have competed in the Pacific Northwest in multiple hunter and equitation divisions. I don’t choke under pressure, I am quick to learn, and I have taught lessons previously.
I mostly ride horses that have been thrown on the back burner. My first horse, Finley, was an OTTB who had been off for colic surgery then forgotten about. He was green and full of energy but we went in to be quite successful in the show ring. Richard was my children’s horse, he had previously been a professionals horse but needed a lot of work when I got around to him. After his time with me he now is teaching young children, along with Finley. I love a challenge.
I have a pretty significant show record from about 2014-2019, I placed champion in year end awards in state and at the national level. I primarily competed in the hunters and equitation but would not be afraid to compete in the jumper ring.
