In both settings, I have performed emergency first aid on equines and worked directly with farriers and veterinarians in the field.
I am CPR/First Aid certified (for people) and was responsible for the safety of the trail groups I led.
In the ranch setting, I was responsible for preparing new and young horses for youth riders.
I have 4 years experience in professional equine positions, where I managed a herds ranging from 11-60 horses. My duties include daily care/supervision as well as individual program needs.
In addition to the positions above, I have years of personal equine experience. I leased a personal horse for two years in Chicago, where I established myself in the boarding community. From there, I worked privately and professionally caring for horses in the community and became exposed to huntseat, dressage, jumping, cattle cutting, and western pleasure.
In the ranch setting in Wisconsin I became comfortable working freely among 50+ horses. There, I assisted the vet and farriers and was the point of contact concerning the health/welfare of the herd.
Livery/ranch environments - I ran a camp program as a trail guide and program coordinator for the ranch. In addition I instructed basic children’s riding lessons and monitored farrier and veterinary needs.
Barn environment - I managed a herd for an equine therapy program, where I was in charge of medication, feed, and exercise schedules.
I also privately worked caring for and exercising low level jumpers and western pleasure horses in the boarding barn setting.
My ride work background consists of ranch riding (saddled/bareback) including herding animals, checking property lines and fences, and guiding trail groups.
In addition, l worked horses English and western in a variety of styles, depending on the preferences of the owners. This includes light jump work and extensive flatwork (including off saddle horsemanship).
