I volunteered at a hunter/jumper show barn for about 2.5yrs as a groomer. I helped tack up the horses & after lessons took the kids on trail rides. I’d also take care of the horses during events after they’ve done their runs. I’ve taken a Natural Horsemanship 5day camp in New Hampshire with the Kokal Brothers. There I learned how to read a horses body language and listen to what they’re saying. I also learned how to set boundaries and stick to them. And got to work with a neglected & abused mustang & build trust with her so it only took me a couple seconds to walk up & put on a halter without her running instead of 3.5hrs just to touch her nose. I also just finished volunteering at the Reata horse ranch as a groomer/riding instructor. I cleaned out the stalls & would tack up/warm up the lesson horse & would give the neighbor girls lessons on how to lunge their horses, lead their horses in a clear manner and walk/trot.
