BSc Equine Management
Mucking out, Grooming, Racking up for clients Exercising horses on flat and under saddle
I discovered horses at 17 and never turned back. I volunteered at my local riding school and was rewarded lessons for this. This soon became a weekend job and in time I was offered and instructor role. I loved this yard and left only to gain my degree in equine management which provided me with many skills required for equine care as well as what I needed to know for managing an equine business. A skill I think very suited for this role.
I have most recently left a position at a competition yard. While I enjoyed the job and working with horses again after two years of oub work, I found the role very impersonal. I wasn’t allowed or encouraged to teach and share my knowledge the way I was at other yards which I found made the job less enjoyable personally.
I have worked for equine charity Ride High in the past at first yard as an instructor so I have experience working with children with learning and behavioural difficulties. The majority of children were those in care or child careers who just needed a break. I had taught for years before this but found this particular role the most fulfilling. I have been around horses for almost 10 years now and absolutely loved being able to share my skills and see how horses could change other lives.
I can school horses one the flat and nicer fences. I have worked backing and progressing young horses for a rising school and currently have my own youngster that I am working with and producing to compete.
I have a worked with horses and ponies from shetlands to shires (and donkeys!) and love the different personalities and attitudes each has. I also work with horses on the ground overcoming handling and trust issues where they present themselves.
N/a I have no affiliated competition history however I have competed my project horses at unaffiliated competitions held at our yard. I haven’t competed recently due to retiring my elderly mare.
My last competition was 4 years ago where I took my project at the time, Sally, to the clear round to help her confidence over small fences.
