I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
I don't currently have any equine related qualifications. I have 11 GCSEs and am currently in sixth form completing my A-levels.
I am currently working at a stables part time on a casual basis. I have experience in mucking out, catching, turning out, tacking up, tack cleaning ect. My main duties are turning out and mucking out to a high standard.
I help out every week at Wellgrove Stables and ride once a fortnight. I have over 10 years on-and-off experience in riding and have been a part of the pony club scheme at Wellgrove for 5 years. I am confident in most aspects of general yard work such as mucking out, grooming, tacking up, catching ect. I have been around horses and ponies of all shapes and sizes so am not afraid of new challenges. I am always open to learning new things and to improve on my knowledge. I also have experience in teaching others how to properly care for horses as I regularly lead young children in lessons and guide them through the day-to-day jobs on the yard. I have also exercised ponies in the past. I also take care of the liveries when their owners are away so handle that aspect of the yard too.
Always patient and calm when it comes to both horses and people. Extremely efficient at mucking/skipping out and set my standards high so you can always be sure of a job well done. Excellent at taking direction and usually only need to be told how to do something once before I pick it up. Great communication and people skills.
I am proficient in canter and am most confident in Flatwork. I have recently started jumping cross-poles and am hoping to continue my training and progress onto higher jumps. I ride English style.
