I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
Unfortunately where I learnt from such a young age Independently I don’t have any official qualifications currently.
When I was working at Willowbrook riding centre I had multiple duties which ranged from mucking out to schooling young horses and teaching lessons. I learnt many skills in 8 years such as; clipping, mane pulling, working with young horses.
I rode in pony club from a young age and was brought up around horses, I was riding from the age of 6 but I began working and riding at Willowbrook riding school in 2011 when I was 11. This is when I started properly, I worked for my rides for years and when I was 16 I started to do for sale videos and ride novice horses along with teaching and escorting hacks. I learnt everything on the job quite quickly as I was the smallest and bravest. I also helped organise events and competitions at the yard. I left Willowbrook at 18 and got my own horse, I had an Argentinian ex polo pony. I spent all summer riding her on the sand banks and hayling Island every day and teaching her the roads. Delmara was very timid and nervous when she came to me, but she ended up amazing.
My main speciality is working with young and difficult horses, especially nervous ones. This last year I’ve been theatre auxiliary nursing at downland veterinary group where I leant simple bandaging and wound cleaning. I enjoy keeping places clean and really looking after where I work, taking pride and having perfection. I’ve worked with children and horses and I’ve worked with the disabled and horses and have found, with my patience it has been successful.
The ride work I’ve usually done is simple schooling work with young horses. I am advanced in the school although have mainly been doing simple schooling work with horses which are learning. I also love galloping and long hacks and exercising horses. I can jump although I prefer flat work due to an accident.
