My main duties were as a polo groom so I was responsible for a string of 6 to up to 15 polo ponies. My duties including everything from mucking out, clipping, exercising, schooling, grooming at games, spare holding, bandaging etc
Unfortunately I can’t take my normal winter job in New Zealand as head groom because of COVID so am looking for a UK job. Happy to work in any industry I have worked in the polo industry in varying different yards in England, New Zealand and Australia and so have learnt many different ways to prepare polo ponies for playing and have selected the best parts from each. I have groomed for both patrons and professional polo players ranging from -1 to 5 goals playing in low goal and medium goal polo. I have a good knowledge of general horse care and equine first aid. I am able to turn out to a high standard. During my last employment in New Zealand I was promoted to head groom and so was given to opportunity to assist the yard manager in the daily runnings of the yard including purchasing supplies and leading a team of 4 other grooms. Before getting into polo I worked at my local riding school for 6 years on the weekends and so have some knowledge of the way a riding school operates.
-Experience in a sole charge role as well as head groom role -exercising -Singling -Stick and balling -Sets -Turning out to a high standard -Work well in a team or on my own -Dedicated and Hardworking -I have experience driving a tractor as well as general yard maintenance duties -I have received 10 champion pony awards throughout my time in polo
I have been riding for 18 years and so would consider myself a very confident rider. I learnt to ride in the English style at the riding school but have now furthered that by converting to a polo style. I am able to take sets, single and stick and ball and I regularly do this to prepare my horses for my players. I have some experience in preparing young horses for polo but would like to further this if possible.
I do not have competition experience yet but I am eager to start given the right opportunity.
