I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
currently working in RDA but wanting to break into the eventing industry. hard working, empathetic and handy with a tool.pretty brave rider always wanting to progress as far as possible, can be flexible with hours/days working.
GCSE's all completed. A-levels: English language, Business studies, Psychology all completed. Level 3 in Equine Groom - riding pathway - distinction. BHS Stage 1 care completed - by apprenticeship.
BHS Stage 1
Caring for horses, managing/running a yard, riding, backing, organising the dentist/farrier/vet/vaccinations.
Once I finished my A-levels I decided I wanted to pursue a career in horses so I have just finished a Level 3 apprenticeship in 'Equine Groom - riding Pathway' - resulting in a distinction! I have been working in the equine industry for over a year now, and can say that my training has been fantastic. I took my apprenticeship through Stubbings Court, and did the online option. This shows my willingness to work and be independent when learning. During my apprencticeship I was also given the opportunity to work at John Whitaker's yard to see a difference in working at an international showjumping yard, compared to an eventing yard.
I have experience with foals, youngsters, stallions, broodmares, competition horses. I have experience with managing, organising, and running a yard and leading a team. I also have experience with backing of youngsters, various forms of non-ridden exercise such as lungeing, and using a horse walker. Im pro-active, consistently looking for jobs that can be done - I am quick at mucking out, and consistent with keeping a yard tidy. Working with horses keeps a smile on my face!
I have experience riding a variety of horses: for example, youngsters, competition horses, broodmares, and older horses. I have experience with backing of 2 and 3 year olds, handling of foals, and breeding horses. I have done flatwork, and jumping but not hunting.
I'm currently working at a competition yard so I am very familiar with the procedure of going to an event and caring for the horses in a different setting. Due to some horses being FEI registered that also gives me the responsibility to check and book in for Flu&Tet vaccinations every 6 months. With my apprenticeship I was given the opportunity to participate in a seminar at Chatsworth about what goes into organising an event which was super interesting.
