Experience as my family have owned horses for many years and I have continued to part loan and ride for others.
I have a full UK driving license and van and have experience driving a small horse box.
My professional career has been within the technical side of the Film and TV industry for 10 years. Two years ago I left the TV world and currently run a Yoga studio in Brighton called Luna Wave and Off Grid retreat space in East Sussex.
From the age of 7 my family has owned horses- I have grown up caring for them, riding and learning yard skills. When I left home at 18 I continued to ride and look after horses for other people, whilst studying at University. I am self motivated and have always taken pride in my ability to take direction and learn new skills quickly. I am now committing myself to equine work - with specific interests in natural horsemanship and starting young horses using these methods. Here is some of the work I have undertaken over the last 2 years:
1 month working on a horse ranch in Buffalo, NY- (August 2016) Duties included: feeding, stable maintenance, riding, checking in guests and front of house work. 2 year part loan (April 2019 - Nov 2021) Duties included: 3 days a week exercise, flat work, jumping at home, weekly lesson. Clinics in XC and SJ, field clearing, stable work, feeding, grooming. Currently (Nov 2021 - present) - Riding and weekend Groom for a private yard in West Sussex.
My specialities lie in looking after horses and general yard maintenance.
I am a competent handler and quiet rider with a calm demeanour and sensitive presence.
With my last few years based in the film and TV industry I am at a point in my life where I am making a career change into natural horsemanship, equine welfare, starting young horses & riding.
I have ridden a variety of horses from a young age, starting with a riding school from the age of 9. I have continued to ride my family's 4 horses until the age of 16. Since then I have been riding for other people and been in a long term share.
I am confident with schooling, flat and pole work, SJ (75/80cm), cross country, hacking and prelim dressage.
I can confidently lunge and have experience in long-reining and using Liberty methods and Join Up.
As a child I competed at Brendon Stud in a variety of basic dressage and jumping events.
As my riding developed I progressed to competing in cross country events across East Sussex and would often take part in the boxing day hunt out of Lewes.
I have been training with Grace Durkan for the last year focusing on prelim dressage and SJ (75/80cm).
In the last year I have attended various grid work clinics, SJ training and XC training with Ken Spencer.
