Duties of Current Occupation
Feeding, muck out stalls, taking horses out to graze, cleaning feed and water buckets, exercising horses, taking clients out on trail rides, instructing the tourists how to handle their given horse, grooming, blanketing, and cleaning tack.
Equine Work Experience
Have been riding for the past seventeen years, did shows as a kid, but switched to Endurance Riding in 2013. In 2022 I started volunteering at Black Horse Trails as an assistant Trail Guide where we take out tourists, exercise horses and my duties also include tacking up, untacking, grooming and feeding. In 2023 I partnered with someone to rent a property and take care of our horses ourselves. In the beginning, we did not have a groom, and my livery partner worked full time. I was our groom, and still am on weekends. In our winter months, we learned how to study the weather for the evening and next couple of days to make the right choice on blankets. Our horses are older, and we have to be very thorough in our aftercare after rides.
Specialities
I am a team player and can also lead. I am used to mucking out, turning out horses, holding horses for vets and farriers. I am very good with people on the trails as I am a local and know the stories from the area. I have also travelled when I was younger and can easily relate with a variety of people. I keep my areas I am in charge of neat and clean. I am known to be a perfectionist as I have owned my own horse who retired this year. I can pick up bales and organize it.
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden problematic horses, green horses and young horses. I exercise trail horses and often do flat work. My riding mostly consist of hacking out. I can ride both English and Western. When I was younger, I used to do a little bit of Show Jumping, and Barrel Racing.
Competition Details
Used to do competitions between 2009 and 2014. In 2016 I did an event where we had to hack 5km in a race in a team against other teams, do cross country, and an obstacle course.
