Equine Work Experience
I have a solid background with horses, starting to ride at the age of 3. Over the years, I've leased two horses and personally owned two. I bought one of them from the racetrack, and with the help of my trainer, I schooled him myself, transitioning him into a new career. The other was a rescue horse with a challenging history, battling ulcers and colic. Through careful management, treatment, and patience, she made a full recovery and is now a completely different horse, healthier and stronger. I have worked with both Thoroughbreds and Warmbloods, gaining a broad understanding of different breeds and their specific needs. My hands-on experience, including rehabilitation and schooling, has allowed me to develop strong horsemanship skills. I’m well-versed in horse care, handling, and training, and have learned the importance of patience, consistency, and clear communication when working with horses.
Specialities
I have not worked with foals, but I have ridden stallions for many years and gained experience handling them in the saddle. I understand how to work with a stallion, ensuring both control and safety. While I haven't led a team, I have been part of one and contributed significantly to our shared goals. We worked closely together, communicating effectively and collaborating on tasks to achieve high performance and success in our projects. I'm eager to apply my teamwork skills in new environments.
Type of Ride Work
I have experience with both Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds, having owned two Thoroughbreds, which I bought and schooled myself. My riding background includes dressage, show-jumping, cross-country, and flatwork. I've worked mainly with Thoroughbreds, gaining deep insight into their unique needs and challenges. I’ve enjoyed training and competing in various disciplines, always focusing on developing strong, versatile horses through consistent work and proper schooling.
Competition Details
Yes, I have competed, but I did not work in a competition yard. However, I rode for one and was responsible for grooming, boxing, and looking after my own horses. While I had a groom to assist, I am familiar with the basics of competition grooming and care. I understand the demands of maintaining horses for competition and am experienced in preparing them for events, ensuring their well-being, and managing the logistics involved.
