Duties of Current Occupation
Responsible for 2100 sheep and 600 beef cattle which involves: pasture management, dosing, dipping, feeding and the treatment of and illnesses. South African Horse Endurance rider: Which includes training, competing, general care, showing them love.
Equine Work Experience
I have been riding since I was 5 years old. I did basic schooling lessons for 4 years. In primary school I used to do show jumping (Age 9 to 12) and then I moved on to Endurance. I have been a professional Endurance rider for 14 years and have successfully completed over 8000km in my Endurance log book. In 2019 I was selected to represent South Africa at a race called Fauresmith200km. The toughest race over a distance of 200km. It was there where I received my permanent South African colors.
Specialities
I have worked with many foals and broodmares. Growing up my mom used to have her own Arabian Stud so i helped her with everything from halter training foals to leading, weaning and desensitizing. We had several broodmares as well as horses that needed training. I have currently just raised an orphan foal whose mother rejected him from birth. He is now a healthy 8month old colt named Griffin. This period included long hours of enough bottles being fed during the day and night and stabling.
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden several green horses and young horses. I have lots of experience in flat work, trail riding and endurance. I have done lots of jumping but at a younger age. I have lots of experience in starting a horse, I am very good with natural horsemanship and desensitizing. There are a few areas of the getting on phase i still need to work on but I am very willing and eager to learn.
Competition Details
I have assisted in organizing an Endurance Race which was held close to home. This included several aspects such as marking the course, getting paddocks ready, organizing the food and beverages, getting vets, prizes, housing accommodation, supplying extra horse feed and having a farrier on standby. I have groomed for several South African Endurance riders at races but I will be willing to learn any new grooming responsibilities.
