Duties of Current Occupation
Core Team Member at Equine Welfare non-profit. Bachelor stallion pastures shepherd and management, Equine Welfare science, fieldwork, mustering & livestock drives, illustration work and more.
Equine Work Experience
I started riding school as a child, and was a groom in my teens, before traveling abroad to learn more about horse training. I have worked and volunteered in Australia (stockhand/ranchhand), New Zealand, Hawai'i, USA, Italy, Greece, Nepal and Mongolia, and attended courses in Denmark, USA and more. Courses and work included: Natural Horsemanship (Brannaman/Hunt/Dorrance), cattle ranch operations, shepherding, mustering/livestock drives, ranch work, limited vet. tech experience. For the past 4 years I have worked alone as a stallion shepherd in an unfenced 500 sq km. National Park, caring for bands of domesticated bachelor stallions. Currently working with positive reinforcement and Equine Welfare Science, as well as field data collector and research assistant in an equine research study on young stallions
I have studied Human Anatomy, Physiology & Exercise Physiology, Sports Nutrition, Injury Prevention and Practical Strength Training at the Norwegian School of Sports Sciences.
Specialities
Shepherding, long distance hiking/trekking, open-field grazing, fieldwork (observational work, ethology, medical check ups and treatment, maintenance, etc ), young horses/stallions, herd management, outdoor work, ranch maintenance, rehabilitation, data field collector, research assistant.
Short-term experience as vet tech apprentice at a specialized equine clinic, work included assisting during dental work, surgeries, x-rays, check-ups, bandaging, and general everyday work at a horse clinic.
