I currently am taking a gap year and am working on a horse trekking farm in which we break in our own horses and we take treks, my main duties are working with the young horses, Guiding treks, feeding and mucking out and carring out other farm work.
I did voluntry work at the southland riding for the disabled foor aprox 10 Years and have been riding since age 4, when at age 12 my parents brought be a pony I was to take care of her myself everyday untill present, my passion for horses has never wavered and I have been told by many people even from a young age I was a great horsewoman. I have a very natural approach to horses and practise Parelli Natural horsemanship which I am currently working on my level 1 certificate and planning to get my level 2 by the end of the year. I am very interested in horse psycology and wanting to learn as much as i can while travelling to hopefully find a career in horsemanship or such work. I have worked on a horse treklking farm on and off for many years in which one of my main jobs was working eith the young horses in preparastion for backing. i thoroughly enjoyed this work and learnt many people skills in this time.
I have worked on multiple farms including dairy farms and horse farms, I am a practical thinker, a hands on learner, a hard worker and enjoy being outdoors.
I ride in a very natural english way but have done NZPC and have sat my D, D+ and C certificates, i am a veery adaptable rider and am willing to try anything to improve my riding style and allow the horses to respond in the most gentle way possible.
I did a few competitions when I was younger but never really enjoyed it as it was a stressful time for me and my horse and found gymkhanas and games days more fun so never did a lot of competing.
