Completed my NZPCA C certificate at 15 years old, however then left pony club to work at the local riding school, and then rode under them. I hold my Comprehensive First Aid Certificate.
For the past 3 years I have worked as an outdoor education instructor, both in the USA and in NZ. Because of this I have excellent risk management, work well under pressure, am accustomed to long hours and have excellent interpersonal skills.
I grew up riding on Waiheke Island (NZ), and have been riding since I was 4 years old. I have had numerous horses throughout my 15 years of riding, and spent my childhood learning under my Pony Club and local riding school. I have worked for numerous different horse trekking companies on the island for many years, and am very experienced in this area. I have also instructed at my local riding school for beginner/intermediate levels of riders. I am currently working as a trek guide for Waiheke Equestrian, and own a 4 year old Holsteiner.
Due to my experience as an outdoor education instructor, I am not only experienced and confident working with people in high-risk and high-pressure situations, but I am passionate about it. I have great people skills, and am experienced working in the tourism industry - especially as a horse trekking guide.
Primarily worked as a trek guide, however capable and experienced as a low level riding instructor and D certificate riding coach. Would also love to get groom-orientated work, and work as an exercise rider.
Only ever competed at small local shows held by my Pony Club and Adult Riding Club, as I did not have the opportunity to focus on competition due to living on an island. At local shows I have show-jumped up to 1m and evented to Training level.
