Due to a change in circumstances I'm currently looking for a part time riding role, 4 mornings a week, but can be flexible. I have over 16 years experience within the industry and have produced horses from youngstock up to intermediate. I'm happy to work with all sorts, from happy hackers to fit competition horses. In the Netherlands there is a special certification ("ruiterbewijs") that you can obtain after theoretical and several practical tests. This certification provides you with separate insurance and proves that you have the knowledge and experience to handle horses on your own and take them out for hacks. The exam also includes basic information on horse diseases, horses in traffic, transporting horses, equipment, genetics, horse futter and training programmes.
I have been riding horses for others for the last five years next to my studies. Most of these horses were either young or inexperienced. I enjoy schooling young horses but I would also like to get to a higher level of for example dressage.
I've been horse riding for approx 10 years. I have competed in a couple of show jumping and dressage competitions. Over the years, I have also done some vaulting, some eventing, some teaching, some driving, some horsemanship, some clickertraining and some western riding. I have worked at an icelandics ponyclub for some time. I've got some basics in clipping, trimming hoofs, massaging, equine first-aid and breaking in, but I would like to learn more.
I have been to shows where I had to groom and present horses to get them accepted into the breed register. Turning out horses, mucking out stables, lunging horses and exercising them are all things I have done on a daily basis.
Fluent in Dutch and English, near-fluent in French, intermediary German and basic Swedish, Spanish and Russian.
Anything I can't do you can teach me- I learn quickly besides having a good memory.
I can ride with english saddle, western saddle, gaucho saddle or bareback.
I have had the opportunity to ride in several countries (Sweden, Argentina, Canada, Belgium) and I have noticed that I most enjoy riding outdoors. In Belgium I have travelled for two weeks "out in the wild" with a horse. In Canada and Argentina I have put "miles" on green horses by riding them in all sort of landscapes, incl. snow and prairies. This was all with western/gaucho saddles. I would love working for a trekking company doing rides in the outback/national parks.
