Equine Work Experience
I have had my own rescue horse for 8 years now, and before then had helped care for horses for about 3 years.
I got my fetac level 4 award along with a horsemanship award after doing a 2 year fetac course at Cherry Orchard Equine Center. This included doing things such as keeping the yard clean, mucking out at 8am every weekday, grooming horses, helping with farrier/clipping work, help managing a team of kids who done lessons.
I have prepared young horses before they are going to be trained, getting them desensitised to things in a gentle but effective way to make further training easier on both the horse and the person training him/her.
I travelled to Denmark to do a 4 day seminar course with Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling.
I have got 4 trophies and over 70 rosettes from when I used to comete, but I no longer ride horses.
I had taught numerous people to ride horses in the past, though never went through with getting my BHS qualification once I stopped riding.
My specialities are handling and grooming horses of all sizes, breeds and personalities. I have worked a lot with horses who have aggression issues, and horses who have fear issues, so I am specifically drawn to those as I am always looking for ways to help improve a horses quality of life, and helping them change from fearful or aggressive to calm and trusting is such a rewarding and beautiful way to help them become better and enjoy life more. I believe in a no-force method of 'training'.

This is my boy who I have rescued years ago, he was extremely aggressive.
And this is my boy now after I rehabilitated him, the most gentle, kindhearted horse I know.
