Thoroughbred Care & Exercise Course

I’ve been riding for 13 years. I have experience with all types of horses. My first job was with a riding school who also had a breaking/livery yard. I worked there for many years part-time & full time. My duties included assisting in backing & breaking young horses and ponies, exercising the horses, teaching beginner lessons & taking groups out on treks, plaiting/ grooming for competitions, mucking out, feeding and general yard duties. Since then I have moved into the thoroughbred and racing industry. I worked in a pre-training yard for 1 year. My duties included; riding 6-7 yearlings daily, riding older racehorses occasionally, assisting with handling and breaking of young and unbroken horses incl. long reining, lunging etc. & all general yard duties. I moved to a yard with older, fit racehorses. My duties were riding out 6 lots each day, washing down and any general duties handling the horses. I also have sales experience handling thoroughbred foals and yearlings on the ground.

I’m a very confident rider and I have experience riding all types of horses including; thoroughbred yearlings, older racehorses (2+), young half-bred ponies and horses, difficult or green horses, competition horses. My best experience is with starting young horses or racehorses. I have also done lots of hunting, flatwork & jumping but don’t compete.
