Currently studying for my BHS stage one and for my level 5 certificate in horsemanship.
Duties of Current Occupation
I am currently doing a level 5 course in horsemanship in which I am on work placement two days a week.
Equine Work Experience
To date I am doing a level 5 course in horsemanship, taught by Grainne Sugars and Jess Soley to begin my third level education and training in the equine industry. I cover many general equine modules in this course such as nutrition, breeding, anatomy and physiology, etc, as well as payroll and bookkeeping. I also go on work placement twice a week in livery yards where I carry out general yard duties as well as schooling and exercising liveries. In the past I have worked for Lindsey Fitzpatrick in the riding school in Old Willow Equestrian Center before it closed down and in Ladytown. I also worked for Louise Halford in her riding school at Copper Beech Stables. I have exercised livery horses at private livery and DIY livery yards. I have also groomed at one day events for Castlelack Eventers in Cork.
Type of Ride Work
I have exercised horses at livery yards in the past. I can walk, trot and canter independently and bring a horse around a course of fences. I can ride alone and independently in open order in an arena with other horses. I have ridden many different types of horses, from school ponies and cobs to sports horses and thoroughbreds. I get coached privately once a week outside of riding I already do through my course to further improve my riding and my confidence.
I competed in show jumping at Kill International Equestrian Center in 2010 and 2011 and placed 2nd both years. I have done other small in-house shows and leagues when in riding schools in different yards.
