Equine Work Experience
I have never work in a professional equestrian yard before but there is a yard close to me and I rode a few of her horses before. There is also a girl who had a very naughty pony that I was asked to ride for a few weeks to get him back on track. Although I had stopped riding for a few years I never stopped being around horses.
I am hard working and a confident rider. I can provide videos of my riding if necessary. I have jumped up to 1m but I have no fear in going higher. I have stables at home and I keep them to the highest standard. I keep the stables spotless and topped up with bedding. My mother has bred foals and she has one this year and I help with them. I work as a shop assistant at the week ends when I am off college and I help along side my boss to train new workers in when necessary.
Type of Ride Work
I got back into horses properly when lockdown happened I had started to ride my mothers eventer and one one day an unbroken 4 year old mare popped up for sale. I went to have a look and bought her I broke her and rode her on for about 4 months then I sold her. She went to Sweden. since then I have broken and produced about 8 horses and 1 pony. Most went to England and Germany. Heights ranged from 14.1-16.3. They were mainly ISH TBx and one Connemara. I was able to deal with any problems.
When I was young I competed at shows from lead rein till about 14.2. I had mostly Welsh and Connemara ponies myself. I usually ended up in the ribbons. I mainly did working Hunter and show Hunter and if there was show jumping on offer I would do that as-well.
I competed in dressage and showjumping in a local arena in Killarney Co.Kerry nearly every week end. I stopped showing when I was about 16 and I haven’t done it since as I had other commitments but I would love to get back into it !
