Qualifications
I am a first year Communications student in DCU, having received 545 points in my Leaving Certificate and a KCETB Student of the Year award. I am fluent in English, Irish, and can speak some French. I have a full driving license.
Duties of Current Occupation
I work in a quantity surveying office where my main duties surround administration work - filing, creating organizational systems, uploading construction rates etc... I am about to finish my first year of Communication Studies in DCU.
Equine Work Experience
I worked in a busy riding school for 4 years until I had to sit my Leaving Certificate. My main responsibilities were turn-in/out of 25 schoolhorses, grooming, tacking up, feeding, mucking out, and teaching. I assisted our main coach with lessons, and regularly taught lessons myself, including private lessons, to clients of all ages and abilities. I have experience working with green horses and youngsters, including my own horse which I bought as a 2-year old, and offered schooling services to many liveries.
Specialities
I have experience working in an extremely busy and fast-paced environment where quick decision-making was essential. I assisted our full-time riding instructor, however I was left alone in charge of running the riding school many times. I enjoy both working independently and as part of a team. I possess strong social skills, and enjoy working with both people and animals. I am a dedicated worker, with technology and organization skills, aiming to perform above the standard expected of me.
Type of Ride Work
My main experience surrounds riding youngsters and green horses, in both flatwork and jumping. I competed in Dressage Ireland Nationals on a horse I produced myself, however jumping is my passion. Working in a riding school gave me great insight into how different horses respond to different training techniques, therefore I am used to varying characters and ways of improving how they go.
Competition Details
I competed in many dressage shows at preliminary level for fun and for my youngster to gain confidence out. I have been a scribe at Dressage Ireland which was an extremely valuable experience.
