I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
I have been riding and working with horses for over 20 years, have worked at riding schools in the UK and had my own horse until I moved to Germany (although I can still visit him!)
Tigger, my horse, taught me the most about horses and riding and because of his background (he was abused) I have become interested in natural horsemanship. I have also been taught Western riding, which I began re-training him (and myself) in because his mouth was very sensitive and also, I personally quite like the relaxed way in which Western riding is conducted - this suited him well because he was so fearful of everything. However, I started learning to ride in the English style so have been riding English for most of my 'equine career'.
When I first started my natural horsemanship journey I turned to join-up, but I also really like the ethos of Klaus Hempflin - I have used his techniques and my horse responded very well.
Natural horsemanship, Western riding, English riding
