I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
I am fluent in English and have a lot of experience with people. I am social and helpfull, I try to always prioritize my job first. I dont ever really do anything half heartlessly. I focus on understanding people and their actions in my curent job, and I find it very interesting. I know from experience that horses mirror the person handling them, so if im comfortable and confident in what I am doing, so is the horse. I have been working in bigger and smaller stables and it has helped me grow.
Currently I work in a smaller stable were I train the youngest riders. I take care of the stable on weekends feeding, mucking out and just taking care of the horses. I value the horse first, always.
I have been living and breathing horses since I was 5 years old. My parents could not get me out of the stables, I ended up helping out the owner with all the ground work in the barn, such as letting the big horses out in the morning before school, so I could bike back after school with my friends too muck out all of the stalls. I eventually ended up helping out the dressage riders who would compete on the weekends. I plaided their horses and took care of them like they were my own. That is probobly why I have such confidence in working with new and different types of horses. I started competive dressage riding when I got my own pony, and as soon as my legs grew long enough I got to ride the bigger dressage horses in the stable. I did that until the age of 16 where I also sold my dressage pony and started riding and helping out at a new stable closer to my school. That is also where I work now as a riding instructor and maintenanceworker on weekends.
Confidence Im very confident in working with horses, I dont get scared easily and have tried a bunch of different scenarios with especially young horses. I am very punctual and organized which I know is an important factor in a stable. Caring for horses and their wellbeing is such a big part of me and I like connecting with people that feel the same way. Friends would probably describe me as very positive and able take change and criticism with an open mind and calm attitude.
My main occupation has always been dressage, but that was very much influenced by the stable I was in at the time my career in horses started. I have plaided both showjumping and dressage horses, but I mainly tacked along when we went too dressage competitions. I have taken courses in handling, horsemanship, riding and safety around horses.
I mainly ride dressage and attended a lot of competitions myself a couple of years back, but now I find myself wanting to be a puzzle piece in a team at competitions. I dont need to be the rider too get the rush of adrenaline you get at events, I just need to be part of a nice respectfull team.
