As mentioned in some of the other brackets, I have a big passion for the great outdoors whether it's on foot or on the back of a horse. From the military I've learned First-aid and how to help each other in different types of situations both more or less stressed. It's also here I've learned to set up a proper camp and how to help other people when they're in need. I also see my self qualified through my experience form helping around horses all my life, both at home and on other's farms
I'm a Deckhand omboard the danish warship HDMS Absalon. This job spands widely, from both practical labour in maintaining the ship, when in harbour, to helping the helicopter crew for takeoff and landing on deck when out at sea. Colaberation is key.
I grew up with horses in my backyard, so I'm used to the labor that comes with taking care of horses. I have received lessons at riding schools for nearly a decade for both dressage and showjumping. I've also competed in the school's own competitions.
Had my own horse for several years before outgrowing him. He was mainly used for forest/trail riding, and practicing horsemanship out in the paddock. The horsemanship I learned from our hoof groomer, and it was a great tool for collaborating with my horse, so we could work through different problems.
The last couple of years I haven't had my own horse, so I've helped out on the neighbor farm with their Icelandic horses, to keep them in shape and up to date with training. When I lived in Australia for a year, I also helped my host sister out at the stable where she kept her horse. This gave insight into how it can be done differently from Denmark
I'm a people person! I have a lot of experience with interacting and working with all different types of people. This experience I have both from the military and from spending a lot of time volunteering for Rotary and helping them with their Youth Exchange Program.
Furthermore, I spend a lot of time outdoors. The last few years I've discovered my passion for Trekking where my most recent tour went to Sweden. I've a lot of experience of reading maps both from my trekking hobby and work
At the riding schools I learned the classic English Riding styles, such as dressage and a bit of showjumping. However for my trail rides I used a western saddle which I learned changes the way you sit in the saddle quite drastically. I learned to love the way it made you feel more connected to the horse. I learned some basic horsemanship from our hoof groomer, this creates a special and strong bond between the horse and rider. This I thought was great so I bought books about it to learn
I've competed in different kinds of orientation races, though on foot. I've done very well and I'm good and fast at reading maps and getting an orientation of my whereabouts.
For equine competitions I've competed in the riding schools' own small competitions when I was smaller, but it was never a big passion for me, therefore I've put more energy in learning the techniques I thought were relevant for my trips in the forests and doing horsemanship in the yard.
