Equine Work Experience
• Able to handle horses safely and confidently, work around horses without causing stress or danger • Horse training and lunging • Proper grooming and equine care, i.e. hoof care, bathing • Understanding equine dietary needs, being able to create balanced diets, and knowing how to safely handle and store feed and supplements • Assisting adults and children with special needs around the horses and with therapy riding • Teaching and coaching, individual horse training with adults/children • Providing basic first aid, knowing when to call the veterinarian • Organizing and managing the day-to-day operations of a stable or barn, including feeding schedules, turnout routines, cleaning protocols, and maintenance • Familiarity with various types of saddles, bridles, bits, and other equipment, as well as how to properly fit and care for them
