I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
I have a basic course in equestrian care, I have my rider levels 1 and 2 and I'm going to do my 3-4. I have my level 2 in dressage and I have a base in jumper. I don’t have a lot of formal qualifications, but I have a lot of experience. I do a lot of trail and I have a base in natural trimming to trim the feet of horses. I have a base in western riding.
In my school program, I learn how to run a business, create one, and accounting. I’m in school full time and I have a horse, so I have to take care of him several times a week. I take care of everything, mount it, train it, special meal, cares, etc.
I started in a pony club, 7 years ago, as a volunteer helping the team, doing boxes, take out horses, feed them, clean the refreshments and many other tasks. I also saddled ponies for the kids. Then, for 3 years I worked and volunteered for handicapped children. I take care of the stable and manage the extend boarders. The following summer, I helped my trainer in all their tasks like preparing horses, cleaning stable, equipment and ride horses. For my contribution, every day my experience trainer gave me training. During one weekend, I accompanied her in competition and helped her to all task. I observed a national competition worked, how to properly prepare a horse and how to compete well. I have the same horse since 4 years with which I do level 2 start of 3 and do-little jumper. I gained a lot of experiences on this very complicated and mentally difficult horse. I have experience on several types of horses. I worked and set up some stallions and worked with foals and young horses.
My specialties are maintaining stables and equipment. Also, to do the complete care of horses. When I ride, my specialty is dressage. I am level 2 and I am very hard to be move out of a saddle when I ride.
I'm dressage rider with positive reinforcement. I work a horse on the ground to get stronger bases and it's easier in the saddle. On ride, I don't let myself be silly and I prioritize safety. I work at the rhythm of horse rewarding and motivated until I finish on a good note. I adapt my rides for each horse, while respecting and prioritizing him. I ride with my plate/legs and not really with hands. I know how to ride/ work with the enraptures, I prefer to teach the horse to seeder and relax.
I never competed in competition because either my horse was not totally ready, or there was a lack of money. At my first competition, I was in the field while my horse got injured (I am not lucky). However, I accompanied my coach in competition, I learned how to manage a horse in competition, so how to overcome the difficulties, the operation of the competition and the preparation of the horse.
