Things I can do that qualify me for this position:
Speaks excellent English People skills Confidence around horses Hard worker Fast learner Follows instructions well Grooming Lunging Riding (Intermediate) General care Confidence around horses Passionate Able to take correction
Currently cashier work, customer service, general retail.
Since I was very young I have loved horses and worked as much as possible to be around them. I've done lessons at multiple barns with different teachers since I was a kid. This included lessons on tacking up and grooming. I then had the opportunity to care for four horses in exchange for free lessons. These horses were western trained and so i learned some very useful techniques in western riding and i had plenty of lessons in groundwork and lunging before i was in the saddle. I worked with a very green horse at the time and it taught me a lot of patience. This arrangement lasted for two years. Currently, I take English lessons and it has been a bit of transition to move from my western habits back into the English ones. I also currently volunteer at a horse rescue which has given me the opportunity to work with many different ages, breeds and characters when it comes to horses. Some have been very poorly treated and therefore are hard to handle but I enjoy it as well as learn lots
I would consider myself an intermediate. I would love the chance to increase my skills. I am very good at staying calm in a stressful situation with horses and maintaining a quiet, confident demeanor when horses spook or act out.
I've taken every opportunity to ride that has ever been offered so I've done a little of everything.
Bareback only for pleasure hacking
Western walk trot canter some reining lots of pole and cone work trails
English (currently progressing) walk trot sitting trot canter some small jumps (currently progressing) focus on bend focus on lateral picking up the right lead and how to correct the wrong one pole work hacking
I've never had the opportunity to compete. I would love to if I had the chance.
