I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
I run my own shop where I sell jewellery that I make. This is allowing me to save money to move to Ireland or the UK for a while, and hopefully find a job working with horses.
I've been around horses all my life, though have only been properly riding for just over 7 years now. I took weekly lessons for about 5 years, working on a range of english disciplines (dressage, cross-country, jumping). After that I leased a few different horses and took occasional lessons on them. I also have a ton of trail riding experience and it's my favourite thing to do! I have experience with green and spooky horses, and I recently helped to retrain a pony who'd been ridden very harshly and had many issues because of it. I've worked at a few barns - mucking out, feeding, and lunging horses. I've also helped out with leading little kids around during their lessons.
I haven't had any proper riding "jobs", though I've helped retrain a couple horses who had been previously trained in a very harsh or abusive way. There really aren't many (if any) riding jobs where I live, unfortunately.
I've never competed as I haven't had the money for it (equestrianism is ridiculously expensive where I live), but I do love watching and photographing competitions. I would love the chance to do some shows though!
