Duties of Current Occupation

I currently work full time as a registered nurse in an acute care hospital. I spend all my free time working with driving horses, training, schooling, and pleasure driving.

Equine Work Experience
  • Raised with horses.
  • Worked 2.5 years professional carriage driver Victoria B.C..
  • 2.5 years working student with combined driving trainer
  • Owned own horses for 26 years
  • Compete in combined driving in B.C for 15 years, experience in single, pairs, and tandem.
  • Have competed, volunteered, and been a groom in many different show environments, from local events to the world clydesdale show.
Specialities

I am quick and efficient, and do not hesitate to ask if I am unsure of the instructions given to me. While I enjoy performing, I am equally comfortable in the background holding a shovel and a rag. I work professionally in a high-stress team environment and use those skills to keep a calm demeanor around all animals. I love to learn new skills, and enjoy teaching one-on-one or in small groups.

Type of Ride Work

I have experience working with breeding stock, foals, unhandled young horses, up to seniors needing some special feeding and attention. I ride english, but do not start unbroke horses anymore. I am comfortable doing flatwork in the arena, to long mountain treks on horseback.

I enjoy long lining, and am comfortable starting unbroke horses on a carriage. I have driven single, pair, tandem, and four-in-hand from miniatures to Clydesdales.

Competition Details
  • I have attended 7+ competitions a year for the past 15 years
  • I have helped volunteer and organize combined driving trials
  • I have competed as a driver and a navigator, and been hired as a groom
