Equine Work Experience
I competed in jumpers from the age of 5 to 9 years old. Upon immigrating to Canada, I was forced to take a break from the equestrian world, before venturing back into regular lessons at the age of 13. I took lessons (all English riding) for an additional 4 years, before obtaining my first lease horse, and moving on to assist with barn work to ride. Now, I help exercise horses at various barns around my home, as well as attend day trips with farriers to learn the craft of horseshoeing.
I will be attending school to become a farrier in January of 2018, but before then, I hope to find work abroad in a stable to gain experience, connections, and insight into the equestrian lifestyle around the world.
Type of Ride Work
Various private barns (2013 - Present): I performed tasks such as mucking out the barn, feeding boarded horses, and general stable maintenance. Here, I also had the opportunity to regularly exercise horses for the boarders as per request.
North Shore Equestrian Centre (2013): I aided in summer camp lessons for children. My duties consisted of helping the kids groom and tack up horses. I also provided assistance when taking the kids out on trails, and performed various chores around the barn.
