-Completion of: Equine, Cow-Calf, and Feedlot Green Certificate Courses -Previous Equine 4-H Member -Member of Southwest Mini Circuit and Saskatchewan Horse Federation -Training in riding western pleasure, reining, show jumping, and some dressage coaching -Have personally coached private lessons for beginner riders starting in English riding. - Have studied under a trainer following Pat Parelli’s methods -Have worked as a wrangler and trainer
-Starting colts with a reining foundation for ranch/pleasure riding, fine tuning/finishing horses, sometimes for more specific disciplines, handling horses of all ages, assisting in halterbreaking foals, general barn chores, herd/health management
I am just shy of having ten years of equine experience and care. I ride both English and western, with a background in western Pleasure and I have touched on many areas of both disciplines.
-Most recently, I have been starting horses under saddle in the UK. I have 8 horses assigned to me, most of which were relatively unhandled and unstarted. I have a few foals an some problem horses, too. -I have a small amount of dressage experience. With coaching, I developed a stronger sense of leg/seat/hand aids and feel. -I have bred, raised, and halter broken foals. I have started my own colts and trained a few client horses, either for starting or refreshers/fine-tuning. -I have sold horses on consignment for clients. -I spent a summer working as a wrangler where I lead trail rides, jingled the remuda daily, cared for / knew the information of a herd of 60 horses, trained green horses, dealt with lameness/medical issues, taught basic riding lessons, and paired riders with mounts, etc.
-Starting young horses with a solid foundation. -Exercising horses, schooling on the flat, as well as over small fences/courses -Detecting general medical conditions/concerns. -Handling horses of all ages -Lunging horses -Training using horsemanship methods -Operating large equipment -Selling horses on consignment- having honest dealings, strong communication, good marketing techniques, and a friendly/outgoing attitude.
-Starting horses under saddle -Competent in English and western seat. -Exercising horses -Schooling young horses -Schooling horses on the flat -Warming up horses before performance -Western pleasure, horsemanship, trail, showmanship, reining, ranch work -English equitation, show jumping, hunt seat, hunter hack, hunter under saddle -Preparing horses for riding, tacking/untacking -Groundwork with young horses for pre-riding preparations -Desensitization or working with troubled horses
Most of my competing was done within the SWMC and SHF. I specialized in western pleasure, trail, horsemanship, English equitation, jumping, reining and flatwork classes in both disciplines. I was successful in both in-hand and under saddle. I used to barrel race before becoming more competitive in showing. I competed up to 2’6,” and would love to expand my experience in show jumping. I unfortunately never competed in dressage, however that is a discipline I would love to explore further.
