I take care of our herd of 38 horses on a regular basis. This involves getting the horses ready for trail rides, training young horses, equine medical care, driving our Clydesdale team, giving riding lessons, pasture management, barn chores, etc.
Equine Work Experience
I have been working in the horse industry in Alberta, Canada for the past 6 years. I am currently at a camp and retreat center that runs summer riding camps for kids of all ages as well as runs trail rides and arena lessons for adult groups, youth groups, and disabled adults.
I have experience with training young horses (including bareback, ground work, and a little bit of liberty training), driving a team of horses for wagon rides (as well as harnessing and hooking them up), working through behavioral issues with horses, and equine medical knowledge (including giving vaccinations, deworming, bandaging, wound care, etc.)
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden predominantly Western or bareback, but have done a little bit of basic English riding as well. In this riding it is finish training with green horses, breaking young horses, and refreshing and teaching new skills to older horses.
