Currently employed as groom for dressage and polo competition team. Duties include daily feeding, mucking out, turning out, grooming, conditioning, bandaging, plaiting (polo), lunging, transport, riding and yard management.
Direct horse management (handling, feeding, exercise, mucking out etc.) in the UK, Belgium and Spain Yard management (feed deliveries, muck collection, fencing installation, irrigation, yard maintenance, paddock topping, rolling, spraying (licensed) and general tractor work) in the UK Professional groom at Dos Lunas dressage stables, Spain Professional groom for La Esperanza polo team in Sotogrande, Spain; both the horse welfare and competition sides to the role requiring precise time management and excellent communication between the team and grooms I have completed courses in Equine Biomechanics in the Netherlands I have been responsible for feeding regimes, lunging, horse conditioning programmes, polework, rehabilitation regimes, aqua trainer use I can safely drive lorries and trailers for horse transport I am keen to improve my skills further, particularly in horse rehabilitation management and ridden work.
As a groom punctuality, efficiency and reliability are crucial in equine management. I have a calm and quiet energy when working with the horses and an appreciation for each horse's individual needs. I have a good knowledge of equine biomechanics and can liaise between vets, farriers and specialists to maintain effective conditioning and rehabilitation regimes. I have a HGV license and experience driving lorries and trailers with up to 10 horses to vets, competitions and overseas.
My ridden work is what I would like to improve on the most in my next role. I have a good, light seat with gentle consistent bit contact. I have a basic set of dressage skills I want to expand, experience in rehabilitation ridden work, lots of experience conditioning and riding polo horses and extensive hacking experience. I am very interested in learning to jump in the future.
