Equine Work Experience
In 2021 I began work for Enver Jusufovic, a horse racing trainer in Melbourne. I was apart of a small team that managed 40 horses. I worked 13 days on, 1 day off for 6 months. It was early morning and afternoon work. This was an excellent opportunity for me to learn about the racing industry and how a professional stable operates. The high pressure environment and physical aspects of the job is something I thrive off. Strong communication between the team and boss is vital.
It’s important to me that each horses individual needs are met and are cared for accordingly.
I have unofficially given riding lessons to young and mature beginner riders which I really enjoy. Seeing them learn whilst having fun and connecting with their horse is very rewarding.
I understand that each yard do things a little differently. I have come from Australia to Europe with an open mind and am eager to learn!
My horse and I have done modelling with Horseland, an Australian equine retail store.
Specialities
Since working in a racing stable I would say my specialty is thoroughbreds and my passion is performance/ sport horses. I often work with colts, stallions, breakers and difficult horses. I take pride in maintaining a tidy stable. I work efficiently and clean to a high quality. I work happily alone or within a team to create the best desired outcome. I have a good general knowledge of injuries, injury care and rehabilitations.
Type of Ride Work
I have been riding for 12 years. I have ridden ponies, young green horses, young thoroughbreds, as well as more educated horses. I have done eventing, flat work, show jumping, dressage, trail riding, games, pony club, I have even tried polo! I’m willing to try anything although eventing is my passion. I developed my thoroughbred from a green 4 year old to a competitive eventer/ all rounder. That makes me so proud. I understand the ups and downs of horse ownership and training.
Competition Details
I have competed in eventing, show jumping & dressage. I was training and ready to compete 105 courses, however my horse sustained an injury before we were able to. Prior to this I had competed up to 95 and novice dressage, training intermediate. I have penciled for dressage tests and done cross country jump judging. The day before and on race day I would be responsible for washing and grooming the horse, ensuring they look in best condition.
