Equine Work Experience

My family have started a relatively new small sport horse stud (Bolzon Performance Horses) that has been producing only around 3 to 4 foals a year. Our first homebred foal is currently rising 7 and has jumped around 1.20-1.25m tracks comfortably and successfully. I have been around horses since a young age and started as a show horse rider where presentability is of high importance. I moved from being a show rider and have been a showjumper for the past four years where I have quickly moved up the ranks to start preparing to compete as a young rider this year (1.25-1.40m).

Specialities

I am able to work in a face paced environment efficiently and effectively and up to a high standard with lots of attention to detail. Stud Work:

  • Handling foals, broodmares, stallions
  • Assisting vet with different activities (scanning mares, vet checks, colic treatment)
  • Assisting farrier Racetrack/Showjump Stables:
  • Handling racehorses (yearlings to six year olds)
  • Swimming and treadmill work
  • Mucking out/feeding/keeping stables clean
  • Preparing/tacking up horses
Type of Ride Work
  • experience with re-educating racehorses
  • my last showjumping horse was a thoroughbred which I competed up to 1.25-1.30m
  • not much experience riding competitively with warmbloods but have schooled on the flat with them
  • current showjumping horse is a warmblood mare which I've competed at 1.20-1.25m
  • started breaking in my rising 3 year old colt (lunging, long reining) before moving to France but don't have lots of experience with breaking in a horse yet
Competition Details

I have been successful in my showjumping career and have currently been comfortably competing around 1.20-1.25m. I was awarded State Junior Rider of The Year in South Australia in 2021 and have numerous junior championship wins and placings. I have also helped out at competitions; warming up people, helping set up/change courses, and picking up poles. I have not worked as a competition groom before but would definitely be open to the opportunity to be one and learn from this experience.
