I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
Certificate II in Equine Studies Diploma of Business
Currently I am employed in a front of house position where my main duties are serving customers, a range of cleaning duties, delivering catering orders, stock taking and more.
I've been around horses for over 12 years. I have done volunteer work and work experience in a few different equestrian centers, particularly doing work as a stable hand but occasionally having the option to work horses both on the ground and under saddle. I have also volunteered as a groom at multiple competitions in show jumping and dressage. Finally, I have had the opportunity to briefly work with young and green-broken horses which I have found enjoyable and a good learning experience.
-Working with troubled horses and green horses -I train using a lot of natural horsemanship, horse psychology and clicker training -I hold a high standard of cleanliness and organization when it comes to both the animal and space I work in
I predominantly ride English with experience in Dressage and Show Jumping. I have worked with green horses, including my own, who was green-broken. I have experience with reactive and problem horses whether they buck, bolt, rear or even bronc. I enjoy working with these horses knowing that they may have a second chance and to show how horses can overcome trauma.
As a child I competed in Interschool Dressage and Jumping competitions as well as being a groom and stable hand for my team mates and friends at these and at other competitions. Unfortunately, in the past few years I have not had the pleasure to compete. However, I have begun to join in on local rally days and am aiming for a few local competitions later in the year.
