Duties of Current Occupation

as a stable hand at a riding school and racehorse stable my main jobs were to muck out stables daily, feed/ water horses, take horses on and off walker, turn horses out, treadmill horses, swim horses, exercise horses, give basic first aid/medication.

Equine Work Experience

I have been riding and working with horses for 5 years. I started volunteering at various stables including riding for disabled, learning from scratch and got my first job at a riding school. I would have to do daily horse maintenance tasks such as cleaning stables, giving basic first aid and medications, turning out, exercising and preparing horses for lessons. I would also teach lessons sometimes. Most recently I have been working at a racing stable with an amazing team. I get up daily at 3am and do many different jobs with the horses . (mucking out, swimming, treadmilling, water treadmilling, tacking up, putting horse on and off walker as well as regularly taking horses to races and strapping. I also have a certificate 2 and am gaining certificate 3 in racing.

Specialities

worked mainly with racing thoroughbreds, yearlings, colts. I have had to train new staff of all levels of experience

Type of Ride Work

My riding has mainly consisted of flat work and some jumping. I am still gaining my equestrian skills but am confident riding and have been riding for nearly 5 years on many different types of horses (young horses, western style riding and newly retired racehorses.
