Training barn that focuses on eventing, dressage and some show jumping. We also breed Selle Francais horses for eventing and show jumping. Currently 21 horses and 3 foals, we are located in Newton, NJ ~1 hour outside NYC is seeking a motivated, hard working individual to join our team and learn all aspects of barn management, horse training, breeding, foaling, young horse starting and competition preparation. Our ideal candidate has a good work ethic, strong time-management skills and a keen interest in learning and their own method of transportation. You must be able to work well with others, take direction and have a good attitude. Duties include mucking stalls, turning in and out, grooming, daily riding (avg 3 horses a day), handling young horses and more. This position can grow into an assistant trainer position or spring board you iin your career in the horse world.
Compensation includes riding lessons, housing (all furnished, laundry, etc), food and $600/month. First raise after 6-months. Showing opportunities (entries fully paid) will be a possibility to the right individual.
Your week is typically 6 days, paid vacation, personal and sick days. Hours of work 7AM to 4PM with a break for breakfast after morning chores, we usually do a quick working lunch.
We are situated on ~50 acres, with cross country to prelim, well organized and maintained. We take pride in running a lovely facility that our clients look forward to visiting. We are not a heavy lesson barn and focus more on private ownership and training.
Prefer someone looking to stay 1 year, most that join us stay beyond that and evolve into a more substantial role before moving on.
