We are looking for an assistant horse trainer to join our team that believes that both horses and people like to be in control of their environment. Most of the horses being used in our program have been born here as have their mothers and grandmothers. We own sons and daughters of some “living legends” such as Mr Melody Jac, Gallo Del Cielo, Wimpys Little Step, Von Reminic, Sonitalena. We also own a daughter of Easter Gentleman, and four grand daughters of Colonel Freckles.
Most of the horse have been sired by stallions that have produced performance horses that have won over a million dollars in cutting or reining, e.g. Wimpys Little Step, Gallo Del Cielo, Nic It In the Bud. Others have been sired by up and coming young stallions such as SG Frozen Enterprize, and Yellow Jersey.
In addition to raising and training performance horses, we are also involved in an equine jobs for youth program. This program was developed to help youths primarily in the 18 to 23 year old age range find employment. The program includes both young adults with learning disabilities and young adults without learning disabilities. Because of the strategies used to train our horses, all of the horses can be used in this program. The assistant trainer’s main focus would be on training horses of all age levels in such a way that (1) they can be shown in performance horse competition, and (2) they can be used in our equine jobs for youth program.
There are no outside horses on the property and there is a full time barn manager in charge of cleaning the stalls. The position includes housing. Modest base pay will be enhanced by a very aggressive incentive program.
