Looking for an experienced, organized and cheerful groom to join the training department at Coves Darden. You’ll work mostly with young PRE horses (including colts) just starting their career under saddle. Good judgment is important so the youngsters learn what they need to know and don’t learn what they shouldn’t inadvertently. You’ll be grooming and tacking horses for trainers, bring horses in or out to the paddocks. The mission is keeping trainers in the saddle as much as possible, and horses looking good, workspace clean and organized.
Work days are reasonable, generally 8 hours long from 7am sharp and tasks should be complete by 3:30pm. 6 days per week with Saturday off- for quality life. Responsibilities include: Grooming, braiding manes, tacking and untacking horses, bathing, turn out rotation of horses in training. Keeping trainers on track, work space organized, tack clean/conditioned and laundry done. Preparing horses to present to clients. Lounging horses, Apply meds including topical, shots- IM and IV and administering oral meds as prescribed, putting on standing wraps. In other words: All things grooming! No mucking. Possible riding green broke horses if experience is appropriate. Work environment is productive and cheerful here and that is fundamental to us.
Pay is $900 weekly via direct deposit. Employee housing is a 3 bedroom brick house valued at $2000/month if it were rented out, you pay electric and internet. Strict no indoor pet policy.
