Barn Manager

Barn Manager Job Description:

Duties: Manage the care of 65+ horses. This includes and is not limited to: Preparing and feeding grain/supplements Turning out/in Grooming and tacking/untacking horses Barn cleanup Monitoring, cleaning, and filling waters Administering medications and doctoring wounds/illness as needed Cleaning tack Helping newer students/clients learn how to care for their horses Blanketing Delegating any of the above to tasks to other staff members as needed Provide quality customer service and excellent horse care Calm, friendly demeanor in client interations Keeping track of supplements and communicating with clients when they need to restock the supplements they provide Consistent assessment of each horse you come into contact with (inspecting legs, feet, body, and behavior for any abnormalities or wounds) Manage employee schedule Use Google sheets and/or Homebase to create weekly schedules Keep track of employee availability and time off requests Grow and enhance organizational systems Communicate effectively with staff using all avenues of communication: in person, text message, phone call, and Slack app Keep track of feed and supply inventory and order supplies from Wilco/elsewhere as needed

We’re looking for someone who: Feels confident working with horses (leading, grooming, feeding, administering meds, doctoring, etc) Is willing to work in extreme weather conditions, walk 6+ miles per day, and can lift up to 50lbs Is self-directed and values organization, efficiency, and attention to detail Is a team player Willing to be a leader and delegate tasks
