Havensafe Farm in Middlefield, Ohio is seeking an experienced horse person to assist in leading the day-to-day operations of our 15-stall barn. Position responsibilities focus on general horse care of retired horses at a beautiful private facility. Havensafe Farm Ohio is privately owned, is not a boarding facility and there is no lesson program. This is not a riding position, as all horses are retired and not being ridden. Regular duties include stall cleaning, turn out, feeding, administering medications/therapies, holding horses for the vet/farrier, general barn cleaning, and leading the team on the manager’s day off or in the manager’s absence. In addition to a proven history of competence handling horses, the ideal applicant will be comfortable working in a team environment to provide the loving care that our horses deserve.
Requirements
• Keen powers of observation and attention to detail. • Can work within a team, but can handle tasks independently. • Competence with giving medication, including injections • Competence driving a truck and trailer (CDL not mandatory, but a plus). • Understand the importance of superior equine nutrition and management of older horses.
