Looking for someone to work full time feeding, grooming, giving hay/water, event assistance, and other miscellaneous farm chores (mowing/dragging pastures, weed-eating, spreading compost, sweeping barn rooms, general farm tidying, etc.). Must be able to do heavy lifting, mainly for bags of feed, tipping water buckets, etc. 6-8 hours a day. Must be independent and have great attention to detail. Creative thinkers a bonus! The property is still growing and developing, so while the majority of the work is with the horses (and overly friendly barn cats), any additional help with basic construction would be great. Drama-free atmosphere (because horses are drama enough) with ridiculously friendly horses, needy barn cats, overgrown puppies, a trainer with a crazy sense of humor, and scenic views. Extensive experience not required but appreciated; we're happy to educate on the job. Horses range in age from 2 to 28 years old and include sassy mares, level-headed stallions, and a few derpy geldings. We hope to start offering demonstrations and performances again this spring, so workers will be expected to help us prepare for those, whether by grooming, tidying up, taking tickets, etc. Pay starts at $16.50/hr with regular raises. Riding lessons available at 50% regular rate. As we grow, this position can turn into an opportunity to become a barn manager. Primarily looking for someone who can cover most weekends. Live-in opportunity available, though availability depends on whether we have working students or not. While the address is Black Mountain, the location is closer to Bat Cave (sorry, no Batman sightings... yet). Strict no-smoking and no drug policy.
