Classical dressage intern program now open for students starting March 1st (email for earlier start date)! Packages of stays for 3 months or 6 months available, though longer term is preferred. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the art of classical dressage, including the work in-hand, from a Certified Classical Dressage Instructor and USDF Bronze Medalist in a developing classical riding school setting. We also work with working equitation, mounted martial arts, and mounted archery and intend to expand this part of the program. Students take care of stable chores, including cleaning, feeding, grooming, and assisting with performances. They receive six lessons per week in exchange for six days of work. Additional didactics also available. Lessons may be focused on work in-hand, on the longe, seat lessons on the longe, or regular under saddle. Lessons will be on 2nd-FEI level schoolmasters.
Applicants must be eager to learn, organized, and responsible. They must be experienced in grooming and be comfortable riding at walk/trot/canter, preferred 1st level dressage experience. We are still developing our new facilities, so many learning experiences there! There will be opportunities to audit clinics and compete with coaching. In the springtime, there are opportunities to learn about breeding, and as we breed Lipizzans and other classical breeds. If the student shows enough proficiency, they will exhibit horses at shows and exhibitions in a pas de deux or quadrille. $400/month stipend and living quarters provided. Minimum age 18. Part or full-time opportunities available for those who live close by and who don't want to live on-site. Preference given to those who wish to stay longer and become assistant trainers, so if you are interested in joining us indefinitely to eventually become an assistant trainer, we'd be happy to discuss what this would entail. Camper with full kitchen and full bath; can move in sooner into show trailer LQ (stovetop burner, fridge, and full bath). Long-term permanent living accommodations in the works.
