The Trail Club riding program is a relaxed recreational riding program serving a primarily weekend and summer community of The Trail Club in Carmel, New York. The program’s primary audience is children ages 8 to 15 with little prior experience with horses.

The Stable Manager position is responsible for the day to day management of the Club’s Stable operation. This individual is the primary person responsible for the day to day care and well being of the Club’s horses – up to as many as 12 Club owned, leased and privately owned horses who are a part of a relaxed recreational riding environment.

The ideal candidate is safety conscious, flexible, has excellent communications skills, enthusiasm, high-energy, self-motivated and goal-oriented.

Requirements

● Twice daily feedings and night checks. ● Daily stall cleaning. ● Daily turnouts and exercising horses as needed. ● Grooming, bathing, blanketing, tacking up as needed. ● Monitoring and adjusting feeding and nutrition programs for horses based on individual needs. ● Manage trash and manure removal, laundering of riding pads, regular washing of buckets. ● Ensure general cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of barn, riding, and turn-out areas. ● Plan and coordinate the orders for feed, hay, bedding, and other supplies. ● Manage shoeing needs and work with the farrier during the shoeing process. ● Manage veterinary visits including deworming and seasonal shots as needed. ● Ensure that barn rules are followed at all times. ● Supervision of riders as needed. ● Some riding experience including comfort on trails strongly preferred. ● The Stable Manager is expected to work a six day week including weekends and holidays. ● Regularly required to reach, stand, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. ● Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. ● Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold or rainy, interior and outdoor conditions. ● Must be able to move independently throughout Club property. ● Scheduled days and hours of work may vary as needed based on seasonal influences.

The Trail Club is a private membership community founded in 1928. It is located on 1000 pristine acres of wooded lands a little more than one hour north of New York City. Since its inception, the Club has attracted a membership that is active and actively involved in creating an uncommon sense of camaraderie.

The Trail Club stables house up to 15 horses and ponies. The stable grounds include a large outdoor riding arena, surrounded by beautiful woods and the tranquil Indian Brook Pond. There are several large turnout areas. The Club offers many miles of spectacular riding trails exclusive to Members. These trails include Horse Haven Trail, which offers hunter style jumps for an experienced rider.
