“Full time, live-in barn manager wanted to run small dressage training barn. Excellent working conditions and competitive compensation. Housing provided is a two-story, 3 bedroom cottage with fenced yard and 2 garage bays. A stall is available if wanted. Attention to detail, excellent knowledge of horse management, and a kind attitude toward staff and horses necessary, as well as excellent problem solving skills. Must have a cheerful and positive approach. Duties include but are not limited to: management, training, and scheduling staff; supply inventory and ordering; assuring client satisfaction; maintenance of relationships with farriers, vets, and clinicians and service providers; and all aspects of horse management, including, but not limited to, basic feeding principles, training principles, emergency medical care, and ground training. Requires general understanding of major facility systems, such as heating, cooling, irrigation, drainage, cleaning, footing, and tractor drag. Some daily stall cleaning and picking paddocks possible, as needed to back up staff, and must be willing and able to lift hay bales, shavings bags, and bags of grain. Must be physically able to safely lift 50 pounds. The position would be ideal for someone with professional show groom experience, who is comfortable handling fit sport horses, looking to settle down. Must have a minimum of 2 years barn management experience, at least 10 years horse experience, and be over 21 years of age. References required.
