Barn Manager will be joining a dedicated team committed to providing excellent care for the horses and a beautiful facility where our horses live out 24-7. This position reports directly to Wildflower Stables’ owner/manager. The candidate must have extensive knowledge and experience working in an equestrian facility, a positive management approach to horses, a strong work ethic and a good sense of humor. This is a full-time position, and it includes one weekend day and one night check shift. Days and times to be discussed. Benefits include accrued paid/sick time, boarding for one horse and riding or training opportunities for the right candidate. Salary commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES -Responsible for the health, safety and wellness of the herd, including daily care, medical needs, handling emergencies after-hours, and managing turnout -Meeting equine nutritional needs, and maintaining inventory of grain, hay, supplements and medications -Scheduling and overseeing visits from vet, farrier, dentist, saddle fitter, massage therapists, and other vendors and communicating information promptly to horse owners and other team members -Perform facility maintenance including basic repairs to equipment and fences, dragging ring, and ensuring day-to-day upkeep of the facility -Clean paddocks daily and stalls as needed -Manage and supervise other barn staff using strong communication skills that foster a positive team experience
KEY SKILLS -Previous equine management/groom experience required -Possesses a strong work ethic, the strength and stamina to work in inclement weather and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. -Extensive horse care knowledge and a positive behavior management approach when handling horses -Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills -Has a can-do attitude and flexibility to meet the unexpected challenges of working with horses -Ability to coordinate, delegate and supervise barn staff
