I have my bhs stage 1 (ride and care) and my ride road safe completed. I have experience in many different yards doing all yard duties and exercising horses. I am looking for a summer job from June - September. I would be happy working as a stable hand or groom with the opportunity to ride.Willing to travel with accommodation.

Roedown Farm in Davidsonville, MD is seeking a hands-on Farm Supervisor for a 150 acre farm focused on Sustainable Practices in all aspects of its land management with focus on paddocks for the horse herds and a small sheep flock, hay production, manure management and woodlands. The emphasis is on maximizing outside grazing, rotating herds, and being self sufficient in hay. We continue to plant trees and seek ways to enhance biodiversity on the farm. Roedown is certified as an agricultural conservation steward (FSCAP). The Farm Supervisor has responsibility for paddock management, hay production, machinery and equipment operation and maintenance, and infrastructure upkeep, working closely with the Stable Manager. The two positions could be performed by a couple.

Successful candidates will have knowledge, skill and experience in managing pasture, hay production, animal husbandry, tractor and equipment operations, machine and agriculture infrastructure maintenance, and maintaining farm records. Physically, the demand involves handling machinery and equipment, lifting and moving feed bags, buckets, hoses, and hay bales. Day-to-day tasks vary by season and include manure management from the horse stables, weed control, mowing and dragging paddocks, hay preparation, harvest and storing, fence line repair, wood management, tractor and equipment maintenance, assisting Stable Manager when required. Good communication skills required. Roedown’s owners are actively involved in the farm’s management and operations. Competitive compensation based on experience.

Requirements: Knowledge of farm operations and impacts of climate change. Good organizational skills, clean and tidy machines, equipment, barns and workspaces, and attention to detail.

Key Skills: Driving license, tractor and equipment use, hay production, animal husbandry, and communication skills. Housing: Housing provided on site. Pets ok.

Roedown Horse Boarding in Davidsonville, MD is seeking a Stable Manager for 21+ horses (mares and geldings) on a 150 acre farm focused on Sustainable Practices and ‘letting horses be horses’. The emphasis is on maximizing outside grazing by rotating around multiple large paddocks. Horses are spread across 2 barns. Boarders can use the sand and grass arenas and can ride out around the farm or on wood trials. The Stable Manager works closely with the Farm Supervisor who has responsibility for paddock management, hay production, machinery and equipment operation and maintenance, and infrastructure upkeep. The two positions could be performed by a couple.
