Hello! My name is Danielle, I am actively looking for a manager/rider/instructor position. My background is in hunters and restarting and reselling OTTBs, but my passion is 100% equine of all disciplines. I have experience in all positions of equine care from stall cleaner to trainer and manager. I am looking for a permanent, long-term position and I am open to relocation. I have two horses of my own; a 21 year old OTTB gelding whom enjoys retirement and trail riders and a 7 year old OTTB mare.
We are looking for an additional Management team member. This position include setting up meals and feeding on a schedule, being very aware and pro active, as well as the ability to mentor and lead others in barn setting. We are looking for maturity, knowledge, honesty, clean driving record and someone serious about being the best caretaker of quality horses.
Typical day is feeds, turnin/out, clean up to 12 stalls as part of a team, water, hay, reset feeds/hay, turnin/out, and blanketing. There is a lot of opportunity to assist veterinarians virtually daily. We have a wonderful cloud based digital veterinary record keeping system that's easy to use and highly regarded. The position also varies with occasional mane pulling, body clipping, bathing, soaking/wrapping abscesses, cold hosing/bandaging, and medications. Wide range of duties that make it interesting and lots of learning opportunity. We don't expect proficiency in all areas as we will train but must be detail oriented with at least a year of some consistent people/horse management. You need to be a self starter and enjoy the farm life with great people!
5 1/2 day week, shared housing on farm. Salary range based on experience. Send resume and cover letter if interested!
Must be 18 years old, have a clean driving record (back three years) to be able to drive trailers, and be physically capable to do all aspects of care. Must be willing to do a paid 3 day trial period unless recent full time barn experience and references.
Private room in nice apartment with other staff. Shared bath with 1 other. Wifi, Cable and all utilities covered.
Salary $18,200 to 26,000 (depending on references and experience) includes housing, utilities and paid week vacation after first 6 months.
Although I am still a relatively new Resident Working Student here at Bascule Farm I can already feel the improvement in my riding and my confidence. Julie, Dick and the rest of the instructors here are always so positive in their feedback and make you feel so proud of ever accomplishment, no mater how small it might be. Now, the "work" side of it. Yes, you will have to clean stalls/barn aisles, dump/clean/fill water buckets, clean tack and lead horses in and out, but the system they have in place here makes it not so bad. We work as a team here and that makes it much easier. Be prepared for LOTS of walking! This is a big property and there is a lot of ground to cover. Our day starts at 7am and is usually done by 530/6pm, but there are some days that you will be out later. I am so happy that I made the decision to come to Bascule Farm and I cannot wait to see where this amazing opportunity take me.
