We are looking for an additional team member to share duties with our Manager. This position include setting up meals, feeding on a schedule and being very aware of the horses in your care. We are looking for maturity, knowledge, honesty, clean driving record and willing to learn about being the best caretaker of quality horses.
Typical day includes horse care, assisting in the management of staff & schedules, participating in all Vet calls, arranging diets, making turnout decisions, blanketing decisions, and keeping track of all Farrier and dental appointments. You will be communicating with an awesome group of clients and trainers on a daily basis. Learning how to train the part time staff, and full time students is part of the position. This is a co-management position so communication and working as a team is important.
Wide range of duties that make it interesting. We keep digital records of all visits which is easy on our wonderful cloud based record keeping system. Manager has a provided iPad and cell phone that you can access records on.
We don't expect proficiency in all areas as we will train but must be detail oriented. You need to be a self starter and enjoy the farm life with great people! We have a facilities manager, so there is only working directly with the horses. Typical week is 5 1/2 days. Salary is generous with nice shared on farm housing/utilities covered.
Send resume of experience and a cover letter to info@basculefarm.com
Must be 18 years old, have a clean driving record, be willing to learn to drive trailers, and be physically capable to do all aspects of care. Must be able to do a paid trial period unless recent full time barn experience and references.
Private room in nice apartment with other staff. Shared bath with 1 other. Wifi and all utilities covered.
Salary $26,400 plus board for a horse, housing, utilities and paid 2 week vacations after first year.
Although I am still a relatively new Resident Working Student here at Bascule Farm I can already feel the improvement in my riding and my confidence. Julie, Dick and the rest of the instructors here are always so positive in their feedback and make you feel so proud of ever accomplishment, no mater how small it might be. Now, the "work" side of it. Yes, you will have to clean stalls/barn aisles, dump/clean/fill water buckets, clean tack and lead horses in and out, but the system they have in place here makes it not so bad. We work as a team here and that makes it much easier. Be prepared for LOTS of walking! This is a big property and there is a lot of ground to cover. Our day starts at 7am and is usually done by 530/6pm, but there are some days that you will be out later. I am so happy that I made the decision to come to Bascule Farm and I cannot wait to see where this amazing opportunity take me.
